Health Benefits of Omega 3 Capsules

Omega 3 capsules or the wonder pill as most researchers call them, are a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids. Health magazines, research journals, television are all full of information about the various health benefits of these fatty acids.

Omega 3 has now become one of the most researched and effective omega 3 supplements available in the market today. The richest source of omega 3 fatty acids remains to be fish oil. However, the weird taste and smell of these oils, keeps many people away from utilizing their immense health benefits.

Omega 3 fatty acids are a group of polyunsaturated fats which include Alpha-Linolenic acids (ALA), Docosahexanoic acids (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA).

The essential fatty acids cannot be directly synthesized in our bodies and we have to completely depend on our diet or omega 3 supplements to get them. Studies show lack of DHA and EPA can cause mental disorders, joint inflammation, skin problems and blood clotting.

Eating an omega 3 rich diet lowers the triglycerides in the blood and saves us from a variety of cardiovascular disorders. It also controls blood pressure and cholesterol levels. DHA and EPA are essential for treating various problems such as cancer, arthritis and diabetes.

The dietary sources of omega 3 fatty acids consist of cold water fishes such as salmon, tuna, mackerel; oils such as flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, walnuts and green leafy vegetables like spinach and broccoli.
